Blog 10

     I aquired many new skills while working on this project. I never knew how to do a lot of the things that I had to do for this assignment. For example, I didn't know you could do the action buttons, and have it click to move to a different slide. I really like that feature and I think I will use it a lot as a teacher when I am creating fun powerpoints like this one. I also liked how creative I could be with this assignment and talk about what assignment I wanted to talk about. 

    I will definitely use data taking skills a lot as a teacher. I will use it specifically to get information from my students, maybe about what they like or don't like about my teaching. I think that it is really important to know what you are doing well and what you need to improve and the best way to do that is by getting information from the students. Since I want to teach a younger grade, like kindergarten, I think it will be a great learning opportunity for them to understand that their feedback and their feelings are important.

    I would like to learn how to create a Canvas page. I know we did that a little bit when we worked in our group projects but I want to learn more in depth because I think it is a very useful skill. I would like to know how to create quizzes and assignments and how to post helpful resources for my students. When I was first learning how to use Canvas as a student it was confusing so I would be interested to see it from a teachers point of view.

Blog 9

     So far, I have really enjoyed this class. I have had a good experience and I think the way it is set up is really good and organized. I like how everything is on canvas and it is really easy to find everything.  I like the teacher, I think she is really engaging and promotes a positive learning environment. There is nothing I really dislike about the class. Something I can do to help improve the classroom experience for my students is to have really fun and engaging lessons.

    Open educational resources are resources that every teacher can use in their classroom. I think they are really useful for teachers and provide a good resource if they are struggling to find an activity to teach their students. In an article I read about open educational resources, I learned that it has a lot more benefits that I realized, like it saving money.     I learned a lot of new skills while doing the powerpoint presentation. I learned how to do animations that make the powerpoint more fun and engaging. I also got more comfortable using microsoft powerpoint because before I have just used google slides. I also learned how to record myself making the powerpoint and it was much simpler than I thought. This project was really fun and I learned a lot more that will be really useful when I am a teacher.

Blog 8

     I definitely learned so much designing my website. I thought it was fun and I will be able to use what I learned in the future to make websites for my classes. One design principle I used when making this website was the title section. I made sure that the background was pretty and the title words were a color that was easy to read. I liked that I was able to be creative with this project and I really enjoyed it. I can't post a link to my website because it won't let me publish it.

    I use AI tools occasionally. I most often use something like chatGPT to help me with writers block. It helps me construct a foundation for a paper ot essay. From there I can build off the ideas provided by chatGPT and branch off of them. Another AI tool I often utilize is Siri. It makes simple tasks like calls and internet searches much quicker. 

    I learned a lot about AI tools. I thought the AI chatbots were really easy to use and connect to and it is a good resource. My perception of AI has changed a little bit. I used to think that AI was just a tool to cheat and it wasn't honest work but now I see so many benefits and I think it has more uses than just to cheat. I will address potential risks with my students using AI chatbots by warning them and making sure they know how it works.

    I think AI tools can definitely enhance productivity. They can help things be accomplished quicker and easier. I think that in the future when I am a teacher I will use AI tools to help give me ideas for lesson plans. I will also use AI to help explain a subject in a different way if my students aren't understanding the subject the way I am explaining it.

Blog 7

     I visited a math teachers website and an english teachers website. I saw very similar information on both. Both of the websites that I visited had a welcome page that introduced themselves and explained what the year would look like. Both teachers also had the resources that the students would be using throughout the year. There were links to everything so that parents and students could easily access them. The math teacher's website also had all the assignments that the students would be doing anf what supplies they would need or how to do the math.

    I will definitely be using technology in my classroom. I just think that technology offers so much and makes teaching a lot easier. A tool that a lot of my teachers have used that I want to use is Canvas. Canvas makes accessing assignments so much easier and puts everything in one place so that I don't have to search for it. When I was in high school we used a different tool that had similar things but I just think Canvas works better and is simpler.

    Overall, I had a good experience working on Assignment 2. I enjoy working in groups and I liked my group, I think that we worked well together. I thought the Canvas group tool was really cool when I figured it out. It took a little bit for me to know how to use and and understand what I was doing but once I did I thought it worked really well and our group was able to make a good Canvas page. 

Blog 6

     My first experience using Diigo was good. I think it is a really good website that is easy to use and it is useful. It can be a little hard at first to figure it our but once I got the hang of it, it was really easy and I enjoyed using it. I thought it was really cool that when me and one of my classmates accidentally used the same website, it just combined them so that there weren't two links with the same website article. Overall, I really enjoyed using this website and I think it will be really helpful in the future.

    I love to blog. Expressing my opinions and feelings towards a certain topic every Sunday is really important and exciting. I like that I have a certain topic that I am supposed to write about and I can give feedback on things that we have done in class that week. I also like that if I have a negative thing to say about the class that week, I can say it without fear of being judged. Throughout this process, I have learned more about this blogger website and also how to write my feelings.

    An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I use all the time is Pinterest. I will definitely use Pinterest all the time when teaching. Pinterest allows me to find cool ideas and games that I can utilize in my future classroom. For example, if I do not know how to teach a certain subject or standard, I can go on Pinterest and find ideas for how to teach it. Overall Pinterest gives me a lot of inspiration and ideas for my life.

Blog Post 5

     I have been using Instagram for my Personal Learning Network. I have found it really helpful to get a look at what life is like for a teacher. I have found many teachers that post on Instagram that really show me what they do and how they do it. Instagram and other social media will definitely be a useful tool in the future. I will always have someone to ask if I am stuck on an issue with a student, and I can find ideas for how to teach a topic.

    The digital divide definitely can have an affect on student's success in school. Technology is a big part of their llives now and they have grown up knowing how to use this, while older teachers may not know. I have definitely seen this in the classroom with teachers not knowing how to use a tool online and then just giving up because they can't do it. The tool could have helped a student that was struggling but since they couldn't figure out how to use it, a student could have suffered.

    Two software tools I would llike to implement in my future classroom are microsoft office and Canva. Microsoft office is a really cool tool that students have access to many different things, like spreadsheets and powerpoints. It is located all in the same place which I think is really helpful for students. I really love Canva and use it all the time to create things for school. I think it is really fun and allows students to use their creativity to create things. 

Blog Post 4

     I chose the grade level K-2 and the first standard, Standard 1: Communication and collaboration. This standard is basically saying that you need to know how to communicate and collaborate with other teachers, students, etc, and which platforms and tools can be used online to accomplish this. I think I could implement this standard because I know ways to communicate with others. I use email all of the time to communicate with my teachers and classmates, so this standard is easy for me.

    I definitely think these resources can be used in my teaching. I chose a math standard at the kindergarten level and it had a lesson plan and a couple videos that I can watch to help me understand what  I need to teach. I think this is super helpful and I can use this to help me teach the math that kindergarteners are supposed to be learning. For example, the lesson plan it gave me explains a game I can play with students to have them demonstrate models and have them practice problem solving. 

    It is very important for teachers to be able to internet search. It will help them be able to give students correct answers if they aren't sure about something, and they will be able to teach students how to interent search. I learned a lot more about Google advanced search and I will definitely be using that more to narrow down my search when I am trying to find something specific. Before I  learned about this, I was just typing my question into Google, but sometimes I wouldn't find what I was looking for, so I will use advanced search from now on. 

Blog Post 3

     I think it is really important for teachers to know about copyright and fair use, especially to help educate students in this subject. It can be hard for teachers to find material, but making sure that they are using licensed copies for the classroom. I didn't really know that much about copyright and fair use, I had no idea that there were so many different symbols for copyright. I learned a lot more about what each symbol means and how to use them.

    The technology implementation issue I chose is cyberbullying. I think that since technology and social media is so popular now, it is a lot easier for kids to anonymously bully other people online. A solution I have to stop cyberbullying in my future classroom is to make sure to educate my students about what cyberbullying is. I think a lot of students don't really know what it is and don't know how negatively affect the people they are bullying. 

    AI has become super popular in classrooms, and I think it has both a positive and negative affects. If students use AI responsibly and don't use it to copy its work for schoolwork, it can be a really effective tool. AI can help give students ideas, or allow them to check over their work. However, there can be negative affects of AI. Some students will use it as their work, and don't put any creativity or originality in their schoolwork, which makes it hard for teachers to grade the work, because they don't know if it was done by the student or not.

    I learned many new skills from the Newsletter Design assignment. I learned how to create columns on MS Word, which I think made my newsletter look a lot cleaner and more sophisticated. I also learned how to do word art. I loved doing the word art, it made my newsletter look a lot cooler and more fun. I can improve my newsletter in the future by making it more colorful and bright. I will definitely use the skills I  learned while making this as a teacher. I think sending monthly newsletters home to the parents is fun and now I know how to do it.

Blog Post 2

     I have not had that much experience using Microsoft Word. I am more familiar with Google Docs, but I have used Microsoft Word a few times throughout high school. I have had to use Word a couple times in chemistry and also when I observed an elementary classroom when I was in high school, I took notes on Word because I didn't need wifi to use it. Overall though I am definitely more familiar with Google Docs, but only because I have used it more. I also like that it automatically saves. I remember in elementary school working hard on assignments on Word and then forgetting to save and losing everything.

    The standard that is most meaningful to me is probably the collaborator. I think it is important to share ideas with co workers, especially teachers. If a teacher is struggling with how to deal with a student, getting advice from other educators might be really helpful. When reading about this, I have learned that it is important to also ask for student's feedback. Since teachers teach students, sometimes the best way to know if you are doing a good job is by asking the students.

    I kind of agree with the "digital native" label. There definitely is a difference between people that grew up with technology and people that didn't, and you can definitely tell who is who. A digital native is someone who grew up with technology. I have seen how some of my teachers who are not digital natives have trouble with certain technology, but most of them are learning and are getting the hang of it. For example, today one of my professors was trying to show us a youtube video but he couldn't figure out how to get the sound to work. One of my classmates had to come up and help him and was able to get it to work. This is definitely an example of digital natives. 

Blog Post 1

     My name is Madeline Wilhelm, but I go by Maddie! I am from Alpharetta, Georgia and I go to Florida State University. I am majoring in Elementary Education and I want to be a Kindergarten teacher. I have one younger brother and three dogs. My hobbies include soccer, which I have played since I was four, coloring, hanging out with friends, trying new foods, playing with kids, and being involved in my sorority, Pi Beta Phi. My senior year of high school, I worked at an elementary school as an after school worker and I loved it, and this really started my passion to become a teacher.

    Since coming to college, I have started using technology and getting comfortable with it a lot more. I don't really have much prior experience besides when I used it in school. I am familiar with Canva and have used it a lot more recently to create designs and other things that I need for school. I have also used google drive a lot throughout my years as a student. I find it easier than Microsoft Word, but only because I have not used Word as much so I do not know how to work it as well.

    My personal learning networks include my family and friends, teachers, the library, social media, and pinterest. My family and friends have been very helpful in encouraging me and keeping me on the right track for what I was to accomplish. They always keep me focused and give me support. My teachers have also been very helpful. They are also very supportive and helpful and help me know what my next steps are on the path to becoming a teacher. The library has been an amazing and useful space for me to have a quiet area to study. Social media has allowed me to connect with others that are on the same path as me and are trying to become a teacher. I can learn more about what it is like to be a teacher from other people who are already teachers. Pinterest has been a helpful tool to allow me to get ideas for the type of teacher that I want to me. It can also give me ideas for how I want to decorate my classroom.
